The Papillon de la Prée (‘butterfly of the meadow’) park was officially opened in May 2011. This formerly derelict 90-acre site was given a makeover by ECT for both safety and landscaping. The urban park was given new landforms and levels by bringing in inert soil. In particular, visitors can see, on the flat-topped summit, a landform in the shape of a butterfly.
The park is open to the public. Walking in the park, you can see the development of an orchard, the creation of a wetland area surrounded by woodland, and 4 miles of pedestrian routes giving access to two belvederes or lookout points with views over Roissy and the Marne valley. Sport lovers can come and train here on a fitness trail 2 miles long, with 12 pieces of gym equipment at intervals along it.
The project was designed with the town hall of Claye-Souilly and a large input from the children. The latter came to help us « re-nature » the site by planting fruit trees in the orchard.
The educational farm of La Prée has been established in the communal park for eight years.
