[Revue presse] Les Echos | When building site spoil is transformed into landscaped parks

Revue presse - Les Echos - Quand des déblais de chantier se muent en parcs paysagers

Interview with Laurent Mogno, President of ECT, by journalist Muryel Jacque.
The interview highlights ECT’s innovative contribution to the reclamation of excavated soil from construction and civil engineering projects for the sustainable development of landscaped, leisure and natural areas.

A sustainable development model at no cost to communities

Every year, ECT manages between 40 and 50% of the excavated soil in the Île-de-France region, materials from construction sites that the company recycles to create sustainable developments.
In Plaisir (Yvelines), for example, over a million tonnes of soil will be used to transform a former quarry into an 11-hectare landscaped park, including shared gardens, ecological zones and leisure areas.
This unique model is based on the circular economy : by reclaiming this land, ECT reintegrates it into projects that benefit the local area, at no cost to local authorities.

Transforming site debris into natural, sustainable spaces

Thanks to its innovative approach, ECT finances its projects entirely from the spoil generated by local construction sites.
This model, which has been tried and tested for a number of years, enables us to create a variety of projects, such as parks, sports fields and orchards, in harmony with the local environment.
In addition to creating new green spaces, this approach reduces environmental pollution by limiting long-distance transport of materials.
ECT is thus a key player in the rehabilitation of derelict land and the sustainable development of local areas.
