"The town's desire to make the southern entrance to the Porcheville leisure centre safer has been realised with this belvedere and park project. Completed in just a few months by ECT, at no cost to the local authority, this new green space in the town is a success. It perfectly complements the existing sports and leisure facilities. The people of Porchevillois will be able to enjoy this space in complete peace and quiet.

Project life

Porcheville, parc aménagé un an après - Porcheville, a park developed one year on

A year later, the park was renaturalised

What was once a derelict site has given way to a leisure and recreation area in the heart of the town. The project to secure the southern entrance to the Porcheville leisure centre (78), which was successfully revegetated in 2023, demonstrates the renaturation potential of the inert soil reused on the site.
The project, designed in partnership with the Porcheville town council and carried out by ECT, provides a new green space open to all, where you can enjoy the surrounding play areas.

Education day on sustainable development

March 2023 – As part of its Sustainable Development Education programme, ECT has been working with two schools in Porcheville. This was an opportunity to raise pupils’ awareness of the issues involved in the circular economy of excavated soil from urban sites. With a very local example: the development of a park. After the theory, it was time to get practical with the planting. The 180 students came at the end of March to plant the embankments, the flower beds and two remarkable trees. It was a day rich in discovery.

A new park completed in 6 months

On 4 July, work began for two months on making the southern entrance to the leisure centre safer. The project, designed in conjunction with the town hall, will be completed in winter 2023. The greening work is currently underway. The planted terraces have been created and the site has been seeded. The next stage will be planting at the end of March 2023 with the Nelson Mandela and Pierre Marie Curie elementary schools.

A site visit for local residents

Thursday 4 August – A site visit was organised with local residents to provide information and answers about the timetable and conduct of the project in the municipality over the two months of the summer.

The local authority and ECT are improving safety and landscaping

The development includes the creation of a belvedere offering a 180° view of the surrounding area and planted terraces overlooking the children’s play area.
Access to the site will be secured by the installation of 2 anti-intrusion gates.
