Project presentation
Between 2019 and 2023, on the Grange Le Roi site to the west of the commune, in partnership with the SAFER, ECT has carried out the agricultural and ecological transformation of the site. The circular economy of excavated soil is at the heart of the revitalization of this neglected land. Land contributions helped shape and finance the agricultural and ecological revival.

Restoring and returning land to agriculture
July 2024 – Carried out in partnership with SAFER ÃŽle-de-France, the project was completed in 2023 and inaugurated in January 2024.
Six months after the inauguration, the first mowings on the site testify to the success and relevance of this agricultural restoration model. Thanks to the use of inert soil, this project did not generate any costs for the community.
The necessary funds were fully covered, enabling fertile agricultural soil to be recreated on land belonging to the SAFER de l’ÃŽle-de-France.
This initiative demonstrates that ecological restoration projects can be financed sustainably and economically.
Grisy-Suisnes site inauguration - La Grange le Roy
January 2024 – An official date marking the end of four years of construction work. SAFER Ile-de-France and ECT inaugurate the rehabilitation of this damaged site into an agricultural and ecological revival. The inauguration was attended by the Prefecture of Seine-et-Marne, the Ile-de-France Region and the mayors of Grisy-Suisnes and Coubert. It is the cooperation of all these players, around a genuine territorial project, that has enabled the site to regain both its agricultural vocation and its environmental quality. This exemplary approach has been widely acclaimed, and the Grange-le-Roy estate has once again found its place in the Brie landscape.
Grisy-Suisnes, a project carried out in partnership with SAFER IDF
July 2023 – 4 questions to Tom Tirlemont, project manager at SAFER Ile-de-France, ECT’s partner and owner of the Grisy-Suisnes site (77). A look back at the genesis of this project and the partnership with ECT. ECT’s ecological and agricultural restoration of the site is complete after 4 years of soil input and various works.
Agricultural and ecological renewal
June 2023 – The agricultural rehabilitation project carried out in partnership with SAFER IDF enters a new phase. After 4 years of soil input, earthworks, levelling and fertilization, the site is now closed to soil input. To make way for agricultural and ecological renewal. The reconstitution of fertile soil and natural environments will enable 16 ha to be returned to agriculture for grazing and 10 ha for the preservation, restoration and creation of ecological zones. These natural environments support the flora and fauna as well as the nearby agricultural activity.
Soil fertility, bringing degraded land back to life
November 2022 – The agricultural renaissance project comes to life. All summer long, thanks to the professionalism of our teams, the fertile substrate is being put to work. This substrate was developed thanks to the expertise of the Ile-de-France Regional Chamber of Agriculture. The first seedlings were sown in September and are beginning to show encouraging results. The ultimate aim is to consolidate the sheep farming activity from 2024 onwards.
Installation of a fertile substrate
August 2022 – On the site to encourage the return of land to agriculture and soil fertility: we have installed a fertile substrate. The fertile substrate is a mixture of inert soil and green waste compost.
An alternative solution to importing topsoil, implemented throughout the summer of 2022.
On-site ecological measures
The project includes numerous measures to preserve ecological environments, protect sensitive natural habitats and encourage the maintenance of flora and fauna:
- Preservation of protected species through specific measures: creation and restoration of ponds, installation of chiropteran nesting sites and reptile refuges, relocation of amphibians and a protected flower (citrine bladderwort) outside the site right-of-way to recreated ponds.
- Preservation of 4.3 ha and creation of 0.6 ha of wetlands with the installation of reedbeds
- Support and ecological monitoring of the site over a 30-year period
Official launch of the first phase of work
June 2019 – SAFER IDF has officially launched the 1st phase of rehabilitation work on the Domaine de la-Grange-Le-Roi in Grisy-Suisnes (77). On this occasion, Laurent Mogno, President of ECT, presented the phasing of inert soil inputs.
The aim of the project is to restore the farmland by planting walnut trees and firewood, and to rehabilitate the estate’s buildings and landscaped grounds.
The project has both agricultural and ecological ambitions
Filling in part of the site with inert soil will create a new landscape in keeping with the site’s environment, and will make a new farm feasible.
