France 3 report: Mysterious galleries to be consolidated

October 2024 – A vast project to secure and fill in the quarry galleries is under way. The work will involve bringing in 100,000 m³ of soil from local earthworks and construction sites, transported directly via an access shaft. To protect the environment, the worksite will be interrupted during the winter to allow the bats in the galleries to hibernate. Machinery will return to the galleries in April 2025.
