LAND ART ARTIST SAYPE CREATES A NEW EPHEMERAL FRESCO ENTITLED “UN JEU D’ENFANT? IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ECT AND THE TOWN OF ANNET-SUR- MARNE

Annet-sur-Marne (77), October 1, 2021 – Saype, artist known worldwide for his land art paintings, continues his Human Story project with a new opus, “Un jeu d’enfant?”. Spread over almost 3,500 m², the work depicts a child playing with a bulldozer. A new illustration of the artist’s ephemeral, responsible land art, the fresco was created using soil excavated from construction sites and reused by ECT.

A new ephemeral work by Saype continuing his "Human Story" series

After New York, the mountains of Switzerland, South Africa, Colombia and Burkina-Faso, artist Saype continues his “Human Story” series in Annet-sur-Marne, 35km from Paris. This manifesto is illustrated by imposing frescoes, featuring men, women and children, coiled in grandiose landscapes ,to deliver a universal message.

Entitled “un jeu d’enfant?”, this new 3500 m2 work created at Annet-sur-Marne completes Saype’s series, illustrating once again his humanist and environmental concerns .

An artistic approach at the heart of suburban landscapes

By inviting Saype to Annet-sur-Marne, where Vasarely, the pope of optical abstraction, had his studio, ECT wanted to offer the town a chance to be associated with a world-renowned artistic gesture. Drawing on the codes of street and land art, Saype’s work blends into the landscape of the Paris region, itself a hybrid of agricultural and urban landscapes.
anthropized. Just a stone’s throw from Saype’s work, the town of Annet-sur-Marne is also home to one of the largest photovoltaic power plants in the Ile-de-France region, also built on mounds created by ECT from excavated earth. The city has thus become a positive green energy city.

In a world where the human footprint has been expanding steadily for decades, and where humans have always shaped their environment as well, the question of how to reuse excavated soil is poorly understood. That's what sparked my curiosity, and led me to create this work. Should we drastically curb our devastating expansion? Finding alternative ways to shape our landscapes? My work is not intended to provide a solution to this problem, but to point out an issue that doesn't seem to me to be sufficiently highlighted. I also like the idea of bringing art to a place where it's not expected. As children, many of us have played bulldozers in the sandbox, yet there's no clear answer to this problem, because if it were that simple, it would be "child's play?

SAYPE

ECT is honored to invite Saype. Sound
is an extraordinary interpretation of our business. The art of
Saype creates a link between people and landscapes. Our goal is to succeed
on our own scale and in our own way, with the same aim of preserving and
to beautify the sites where we work.
"We need companies that are committed, and ECT is setting an example, both in
and this magnificent public art project by our artist Saype,
in the service of local life and international influence. We are very proud to have
made it easier. "says MTArt Agency.

About SAYPE

Saype was born Guillaume Legros in Belfort, France in 1989, and now lives in Bulle, Switzerland. A self-taught artist, he began painting at the age of 14 through graffiti. He soon moved between the street and his studio, exhibiting his first works in galleries at the age of 16. Saype is considered one of the pioneers of the Land Art movement, with his gigantic biodegradable paintings on grass. In 2016, he created the world’s largest land art painting (10,000 square meters in Leysin), which brought him international recognition with over 200 press articles devoted to his work. Known for his gigantic grass paintings using biodegradable and natural pigments, he has been recognized in 2019 by the renowned Forbes magazine as one of the 30 most influential people under 30 in art and culture.

About ECT

ECT’s growth is part of a circular economy strategy: reusing excavated soil from urban construction sites to work with local authorities on concerted, sustainable development projects. To structure this dynamic, ECT has developed various areas of expertise: an “Excavated earth management” division to meet the environmental engineering and traceability needs of the construction industry and the Grand Paris Express, and a “Development design and implementation” division to offer local authorities useful projects based on the reclamation of excavated earth: landscaped parks, urban nature and sports areas, agricultural rehabilitation, photovoltaic farms.
