ECT’s fertile substrate project wins Plaine Commune’s call for projects on recycling building materials

RECYCLE INERT SOIL AND GREEN WASTE TO CREATE FERTILE SOIL

As part of these reflections on urban metabolism, Plaine Commune is piloting a new call for projects. It is entitled “Building new recycling channels for building materials together”.

The aim of ECT’s fertile substrate production is twofold: to recycle inert soil from construction sites and to recycle green waste compost. This mixture enables the rapid creation of technosols.

PRESERVE TOPSOIL, STOP ITS IMPORTATION

Topsoil is a natural resource that must be preserved. It is important to keep imports to a minimum. ECT’s fertile substrate represents a 100% eco-responsible alternative:

  • Produced close to where it is used, it reduces the carbon footprint of urban green spaces and agricultural renaturation;
  • The product of double recycling, fertile substrate is a successful illustration of the circular economy.

INCREASE NATURE IN THE CITY WITH A COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION

Developing nature in the city means limiting or even remedying the artificialization of land. It also promotes biodiversity and provides residents with places to relax and enjoy themselves.

Less expensive than topsoil, fertile substrates make it possible to develop more green spaces to enhance urban well-being.

REBUILDING THE SOIL TO GREEN THE CITY

The construction of a technosol enables soil qualities to be varied according to the services required: vegetation, biodiversity, drainage, bearing capacity.

The fertile substrate adapts the circulation and retention of water and mineral elements. It also improves soil stability and bearing capacity.

DUAL EXPERTISE AND HIGH PRODUCTION CAPACITY

As the French leader in inert soil reclamation, ECT has unique expertise in soil management and characterization. This expertise can also be applied to the preparation of fertile substrates. ECT also calls on its subsidiary BIODEPE, a company specializing in organic waste and soil fertilization. BIODEPE manages the local supply of green waste compost. As well as the production of the fertilizer mix.

Processing 15 million tonnes of excavated soil a year, ECT has the capacity to meet all its customers’ supply needs. That’s why we can also provide interesting outlets for the Ile-de-France green waste industry.

QUALITY CONTROL AND TRACEABILITY OF ECT FERTILE SUBSTRATE

ECT controls the materials used in its fertile substrate. Inert soil and green waste are subject to analysis and traceability standards. Unlike topsoil, which offers no guarantee of analysis and traceability.

  • Green waste code: 20 02 01
