A France Inter report on ECT’s biological treatment center

This week, France Inter’s “La Terre au Carré” program is broadcasting a series of reports by journalist Juliette Prouteau. This documentary mini-series focuses on excavated soil from the Grand Paris Express construction sites.

The January 14 report focuses on polluted excavated soil. That’s why the journalist visited our Center for the Biological Treatment of Soil Impacted by Hydrocarbons, located in La Courneuve (93).

During the report, Jérôme Malherbe, site manager, and Laurent Mogno, President of ECT, explain how the center biologically treats polluted soil.

An overview of the activities of France’s first fully enclosed center of this type, in several different stages:

  • the center receives soil in specific bins, specific to each site.
  • the center sorts and analyzes the soil to specify the type of pollution.
  • the treatment process can begin
  • The treatment process ceases when the analyses confirm a level of hydrocarbon decontamination.
