Project presentation
In Évin-Malmaison, the former pits n°8 and 8 bis are about to be given a new lease of life. In partnership with the municipality, and complementing the work of the EPF des Hauts-de-France, this redevelopment project will transform these wastelands into a landscaped park. Designed for local residents, it will offer walking paths, a belvedere and a green theater around the pit 8 headframe, a reminder of the mining past. This new natural and leisure area will also help to beautify the neighbouring residential district and enhance the attractiveness of the area.

Transforming a mining wasteland into a green heritage area
February 2025 – The project to redevelop the former pits n°8 and 8 bis at Évin-Malmaison aims to transform a derelict wasteland into a landscaped park, in partnership with the local community. The aim of the project is to enhance the mining heritage while improving the living environment for local residents.
This new space will integrate :Â
- walking paths,
- a belvedere offering panoramic views
- a green amphitheater designed to host cultural and festive events,
- a hiking trail will complete the “Boucle des 3 cavaliers”, offering a safe route through the area.
As part of a circular economy approach, this project is entirely financed by inert soil from local construction sites. It also contributes to the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity by rehabilitating existing natural environments and planting local species certified as “Végétal Local”.
