Fertile substrate to green the future Parc du Sempin in Chelles

Juillet 2024 - site Chelles- Mise en place substrat fertile

In partnership with Safer de l’ÃŽle-de-France, the ambitious project to rehabilitate the Plaine du Sempin is progressing.
In the final phase of development, our teams are producing an innovative substrate on site to create fertile soil.
This 100 % recycled substrate is made from a mixture of green waste compost and inert soil from the construction industry.

Why fertile substrate?

There are several reasons for recreating soil with fertile substrate :

  • Circular: Produced from 100% recycled materials, the substrate recovers green waste and inert soil from the construction industry.
This approach contributes to sustainable resource management and waste reduction.
  • Ecological: By reusing locally available materials, the substrate reduces the need to import topsoil, thus preserving natural resources and reducing the carbon footprint associated with transport.
  • Efficient: This fertile substrate will form the upper soil horizon, essential for the park’s vegetation.
It will provide a quality nutrient base for plants, promoting a thriving, sustainable ecosystem.

An initiative supported by numerous partners

This project is supported by the Paris – Vallée de la Marne urban community.

  • Parc du Sempin is part of the network of demonstration sites in Plante & Cité’s SITERRE II program.
  • Finally, the fertile substrate is followed by Sol&Co: analyses and recommendations to optimize soil quality.

A major rehabilitation

The partnership between ECT and Safer de l’ÃŽle-de-France has enabled the Sempin site to be rehabilitated through the reuse of excavated soil.
These contributions are shaping the future park.
They contribute to the financing of all the necessary facilities and equipment.
