A job, a story reception agent

Whatever their areas of expertise, their professions or the sites on which they work, ECT’s Operations Department employees contribute every day to “shaping the landscape”. Despite the rigours of the weather, we must remain optimistic and persevering. And working together, as a team, to shape these hills of land and these projects.

Through the portraits of these men and women, we invite you to discover their professions and the challenges they face. In this issue, we focus on the job of receptionist.

The receiving station: the key to traceability?

Every year, ECT welcomes nearly 15 million land visitors. The traceability of this soil is a major challenge for the management and reuse of excavated soil. On all sites, soil is controlled at the receiving station.

The agent carries out the first in situ checks:

  • recording of documents containing information on the origin of the site
  • verification of admission documents
  • checking truck loading
  • transmission and verification of safety instructions, traffic and unloading rules

A receptionist, a profession also practiced by women.

At several of our sites, women are in charge of reception duties. This job demands speed of execution, rigor and firmness.

We need to know how to manage the flow of incoming trucks and keep waiting times to a minimum. And sometimes you have to deal with refusals to load because the traceability or quality of the soil is lacking.
