3 ECT Oasis Nature sites in Seine-et-Marne
Renatured areas at ECT’s Annet-sur-Marne (77) and Roissy-en-Brie (77) sites join Humanité et Biodiversité’s Oasis Nature network
Following on from the Villeneuve-sous-Dammartin (77) site, singled out for its orchard, wooded hillsides and recreation area for the Common Buzzard, the areas dedicated to biodiversity at 2 ECT sites in Seine-et-Marne have joined the Oasis Nature network. A great accolade for ECT’s design, operation and fit-out teams.
« ECT is encouraged to continue its efforts to create quality sites for biodiversity! »
Charlotte Eulry, Oasis Nature project manager
ECT project at Roissy-en-Brie
ECT’s project at Roissy-en-Brie proposes a mainly agricultural rehabilitation combined with environmental preservation and renaturation carried out by ECT.
The main attraction of the recreated ecological zone is that it offers an open, humid environment. The valleys are already well developed. This type of environment is becoming increasingly rare and must be preserved over the long term. And this despite the very strong land pressure in the area. The site’s wooded and grassed embankments are also part of the Oasis Nature network.
The project also includes 5 years of ecological monitoring. The Oasis Nature Network alerts the future manager on the benefits of keeping the environment open. In particular, we plan to remove any woody vegetation that could close off the wetland.
ECT project in Annet-sur-Marne
On the Annet-sur-Marne site, the Oasis Nature site borders a wood that slopes down to the nearby Fossé de Montigny stream. The site adjoins a type I ZNIEFF, while the ECT site still in operation is on the western edge. Reforestation includes many fruit trees. They are the equivalent of an orchard, biologically rich agricultural ecosystem. It attracts local wildlife and maintains the soil with a healthy herbaceous layer.
Oasis Nature asks to be vigilant about the upkeep of these fruit trees and proposes to organize fruit-picking sessions.
What's next?
On the 2 projects, the agricultural areas and their ecological facilities can be integrated into the Oasis Nature network on completion. This will be studied by Humanité & Biodiversité according to the type of agriculture practiced and the farmer’s interest in the label.
